I Got This! ("we", "our", "the Service") helps you organize and track your job search.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our web application and browser extension.

By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

We collect information you provide when creating an account, including:

• Email address
• Name (optional)
• Authentication and account metadata, such as timestamps and status

1.2 Job-Search Data You Add

You may enter or save:

• Job applications, roles, and related details
• Job descriptions imported through the browser extension
• Notes, tasks, events, statuses, and timeline information
• Feature-usage interactions that help improve reliability and performance

1.3 Browser Extension Data

The browser extension only collects data after explicit user action.

When you click the “Save Job” button, the extension may:

• Read the visible HTML content of the job posting page
• Read your I Got This! authentication cookie only to detect whether you are signed in
• Store the current tab ID locally to keep UI state
• Send the cleaned job posting HTML and any note you provide to your I Got This! account

The extension:

• Does not collect browsing history
• Does not run automatically on sites
• Does not collect any data without you clicking the Save button
• Does not sell or share data with third parties

1.4 Technical and Diagnostic Information

We may collect:

• IP address (for security and abuse prevention)
• Device and browser type
• Basic server logs
• Error and performance diagnostics

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide core job-tracking functionality
• Extract job details when you request it
• Authenticate your account
• Improve reliability, performance, and user experience
• Detect, investigate, or prevent security issues

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise monetize your personal information.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored in a secure, managed database environment with:

• Encryption at rest
• Encryption in transit
• Strict access controls tied to your authenticated account

Passwords and sensitive credentials are handled securely and are not visible to us.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share data only with trusted service providers that help operate the Service, including:

• Hosting and infrastructure providers
• Authentication, security, and storage providers
• Diagnostic and performance-monitoring tools
• Text-processing tools you explicitly invoke (such as job-extraction features)

• Can only access the minimum data required to perform their function

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the Service’s security and integrity.

5. Analytics

We use analytics to understand usage patterns and improve the Service.
Analytics may include:

Analytics does not include the contents of your job applications, notes, or job descriptions.

Users cannot currently disable analytics.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You may:

• Edit or delete any job, note, task, or event you create
• Update your account information where controls are provided
• Manage browser extension permissions in your browser settings

Account deletion and analytics opt-out are not currently available.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data while your account remains active and as needed to operate the Service.
You may delete individual items at any time.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including:

• Encrypted storage (in transit and at rest)
• Access controls
• Secure HTTPS transport
• Monitoring for unauthorized access

While no system is completely secure, we actively work to maintain strong protections.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under 16.
We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we discover such data, it will be removed.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves.
When changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
